Folding Stool Hardware Buying Guide: Mechanism, Mounting & RFQ Checklist
Folding stool brackets and wall-mounted seat mechanisms must be evaluated with the complete seat, frame, wall and user load. Mechanism appearance alone cannot establish safe capacity.
1. Draw open and folded positions
Show seat height, depth and width, bracket spacing, pivot location, wall/frame clearance and the full folded envelope. Confirm how the user opens, locks, releases and folds the seat and where hands or clothing could be pinched.
2. Define the complete load system
State expected user load, dynamic sitting/standing conditions, number of brackets, spacing, seat stiffness and mounting structure. Printed product loads are supplier references unless the complete test configuration and report match the installation.
3. Confirm mounting and reinforcement
Identify concrete, masonry, timber/metal framing, cabinet panel or another support. Provide reinforcement and fastener design. Pictured screws are not proof of suitability for a wall or public-use installation.
4. Review mechanism and safety
Confirm positive locking, release access, stops, return/spring action, sharp edges and pinch points. For public, accessible or regulated installations, provide applicable standards and obtain project engineering approval and sample testing.
