Furniture Leg & Cabinet Foot Buying Guide: Height, Load & RFQ Checklist
Furniture legs and cabinet feet are selected by height, adjustment, mounting plate, load distribution and floor contact—not only by appearance.
1. Choose fixed, adjustable or telescopic
| Type | Use | Confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed cabinet leg | Sets a defined cabinet/furniture height | Overall height, profile, plate and floor pad |
| Adjustable foot | Compensates for uneven floors | Adjustment range, thread, access and load at extension |
| Telescopic table leg | Changes working height or fits a range | Minimum/maximum height, overlap, locking and stability |
2. Define load distribution
State furniture and contents weight, number and spacing of legs, centre of gravity, dynamic movement and lateral loads. Capacity depends on the complete frame, plate, fasteners and floor contact. Do not multiply a single-leg label without checking load sharing and stability.
3. Confirm mounting plate and frame
Provide plate dimensions, thickness, hole pattern, orientation and underside structure. Identify timber, board, metal frame or another substrate and reinforcement. Confirm whether screws/bolts are included and suitable.
4. Check height, adjustment and floor contact
Separate body height from total installed height and adjustable range. Confirm thread size, pad diameter/material, anti-slip or protective requirements and whether adjustment remains accessible after installation.
Furniture-leg RFQ checklist
